As many of you know Russia has banned U.S. adoption.
Children in Russia don't know that yet.
They do not understand it.
They still have their hope.
They wait.
For their parents.
For the hope of a better life.
As Christians, do we not fall in this same category?
We are orphans.
Sin has banned us from God.
We Hope.
Wait.
For our Father in Heaven to return for us.
Bring us home.
The ending of the story is: He comes for us.
He gets us.
I have no idea what will happen to all of the orphans in Russia, and all other countries.
But I do know that God gets them in the end.
Russia may put up barriers..
But my God can destroy those with mere words.
While we wait...our hearts break for these children.
We do not understand it.
Nor will we.
We want to have the answers
We want to know.
We defend God by saying He has a plan for this pain.
Nowhere in Scripture does Jesus ever defend the evil of the world.
He never gives any explanation for it.
It simply is.
He always comforts us in our pain though.
One of my favorite verses screams "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." psalm 147:3
Whatever the outcome may be for Russia, adoptive parents, orphans....these wounds will be healed.
The balm is Jesus.
The government can ban the U.S.
But they cannot ban Jesus' power.
I read in the news a story.
About a Louisville basketball player named Gorgui Dieng.
He is originally from Senegal.
He has been in the U.S. for three years now.
His parents have never seen him play basketball.
With a lot of time and money spent his host family surprised him with the information that his parents obtained visas and tickets and would be coming to the states to watch him play.
On Christmas eve, Gorgui drove to pick his parents up from the airport and sent a text to his host family saying:
"I can never repay you or thank you enough for making this happen."
Ideally, every family should be with their children and every child should have the opportunity to have a family.
One day this will be reality.
Until then...
We hope.
Pray.
Let God heal us in the outcome.
